Career in SSC Stenographer Grade 'C' and Grade 'D' Job

Recently I was having a conversation with one of my classmate about the Government jobs in India and what is the procedure to get selected, age criteria and other related stuff. To give you a background we did our schooling and B.Tech together but after B.Tech I started working in IT industry whereas my friend cleared Gate exam and did M.Tech from a government institute. He always dreamed of a government job and as expected he did not join the company he was placed in as he wanted to try for the sarkaari naukri. Currently he is working as an Assistant Manager in a Bank and soon he will be joining another bank as an IT officer with better payscale and facilities yet being a government employee. So now you know that he is the one who is preparing all time for these jobs and has fair idea about current situation in terms of selection process, reference material books etc. etc. During this conversation I have heard many familiar post names such as Locomotive Pilot, Bank PO, Excise Inspector but one name that caught my attention was the Stenographer.

So, first doubt in my mind was what exactly is a Stenographer isn't it the typist and searched for what does it actually mean. The definition for the term is "A stenographer is someone who types what people say. You have to listen carefully and type very fast to be a stenographer. On TV shows, you may have noticed someone typing everything the judge, lawyers, and witnesses say in a courtroom. That's the stenographer." Having a good typing speed ( I could type up to 35 words per minute at one time) I was interested to know more about it. When I searched for more information, I got to know that for this post exam is conducted by SSC and it is done at national level so getting the job is pretty difficult.

The SSC stenographer test is conducted for two different categories namely Grade 'C' and Grade 'D' out of which the test for former is tougher than the latter one. SSC Stenographer Exam is organized by the SSC and is scheduled to be conducted on July 31, 2016. It is an offline examination i.e. pen and paper based test. The SSC Stenographer Question paper is in English and Hindi (except for English language section) both with objective type questions. As per the SSC Stenographer Exam Pattern, the SSC Stenographer exam comprises of three sections or parts i.e. General Intelligence and Reasoning (Part I), General Awareness (Part II) and English Language and Comprehension (Part III).

The candidates who qualify the written examination of SSC Stenographer are shortlisted for the skill test for SSC Stenographer exam. The qualifying standards for the SSC Stenographer Skill Test will be set by the Commission as the test is qualifying in nature. The candidates have to hear carefully the dictation given to them for 10 minutes in English/Hindi.
They are required to type the same on a computer at a speed of 100 w.p.m. to be recruited for the post of a Grade C Stenographer, while for Grade D, he/she must type at a speed of 80 w.p.m. The candidates with Visual Impairment have to transcribe the matter in 75 minutes for English or 100 minutes for Hindi Shorthand if they are applying for Grade D Stenographer.
For Grade C, the Visually Handicapped candidates have to transcribe the matter in 75 minutes for English or 95 minutes for Hindi shorthand test. The skill test for SSC Stenographer will be held at Regional or Sub-Regional Offices or other centers as decided by the Commission. The transcription is evaluated electronically post submission.

The Mid Range Fight: Vivo V5 Vs Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

Chinese handset maker Vivo recently launched the Vivo V5 in India. It’s basically a phone which is entirely targeted at selfie enthusiast. In case you don’t know, let us tell you that it comes equipped with a whopping 20-megapixel front-facing camera, which is highest in the market at this point. We are going to compare the Vivo V5 with the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, which is priced almost similar as the Vivo V5. So let’s find out whether it’s a win-win situation for both of them or not.

Vs
Vivo V5----Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime

Build & Design:

In terms of the design and looks, the Vivo flaunts a metal unibody construction whereas the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime also crafted in all metal body. So, we can easily put it this way: Both the devices feel premium and comfortable to hold. In spite of that, the Vivo V5 is comparatively slimmer and lighter than the Galaxy J7 Prime.

Both the phones sport a bigger 5.5-inch display, but it’s also worth that the display size is not everything. It’s also about the display resolution which plays a major role in the decision-making process. This is where Samsung leads the flight as it features a 1080p Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection as opposed to the 720p HD on the Vivo V5 having no screen protection at all.

Performance:

Moving on, powering the Vivo V5 is MediaTek MT6750 processor whereas what powers the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is Exynos 7870 processor. Here, the Exynos 7870 easily outranks the likes of MediaTek. However, the Vivo V5 packs  in 4GB of RAM whereas the Galaxy J7 Prime has a 3GB RAM running inside.

Camera:

Both, the Vivo V5 and Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime houses a 13-megapixel rear camera. Nevertheless, when it comes to taking selfies, it’s the Vivo V5 which is playing on the front foot. Even in terms of features and recording abilities, the Vivo V5 is way ahead than its competitor. It’s attributed to the Galaxy J7 Prime’s lack of 4K video recording support.

As far as the memory is concerned, the Vivo V5 comes with 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. Samsung, on the other side, is partially on the downside with 16GB of storage. Even though Samsung phone has a lesser storage in comparison with the Vivo phone, it supports storage expandability up to 256GB. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime has a bigger 3300mAh battery as opposed to 3000mAh on the Vivo V5.

Conclusion:

Looking at this comparison, one thing is primarily visible that there is no clear winner here. If your requirement is for a good selfie phone, then you should straightaway consider the Vivo V5. However, if your need a phone with overall balanced set of specifications at best available price, then Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is a good option.
