According to a recent IAMAI report on mobile internet trends in India, entertainment is among the top three reasons for urban users to get online from mobile devices. And, when it comes to rural areas, entertainment stands out as the top-most reason. Currently, this rural user base constitutes around 30% of the overall mobile internet users, and their data consumption is all set to explode in the coming two years.

Once installed and enabled, Opera Max reduces data usage of video- and audio-streaming apps, image-rich apps and webpages on the fly across all smartphone apps and browsers. It uses an on-device virtual private network (or VPN) to measure data usage directly on the device.
