mRUPEE a subsidiary of Tata Teleservices, announced its tie up with IRCTC, India's largest e-commerce company. mRUPEE wallet will allow passengers one tap payments for rail ticket booking as the IRCTC will add it as another payment gateway on its website. Indian Railways carries more than 23 million passengers a day and the tie up will make online payment for these commuters much easier.
Indian Railway Catering and
Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways that
handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing
operations of the railways. As the biggest e-commerce portal in India,
IRCTC holds record of over 13 lakh tickets booked in a day in April 2015.
The portal sees approximately 4.5 to 5 lakhs bookings per day on an average.

mRUPEE has recently tied up
with SmartD, a lifestyle management platform, which helps consumers in
Chennai to explore delicious, healthy and affordable
food every day. Also, mRUPEE had earlier announced its partnership with
ICICI Bank to launch a recharge facility for Delhi Metro cards. MMPL
also launched the Open Loop prepaid, VISA powered, card in partnership
with RBL Bank (Ratnakar Bank). By obtaining
a PaySmart card, mRUPEE customers are able to withdraw money from VISA
licensed ATMs and also pay for goods and services at all merchants that
accept VISA Debit/Credit cards nationally.
