Nikon
India, 100% subsidiary of Nikon Corporation today announced the winners
of Shorts On Nikon contest,
a property for Nikon India to engage with the upcoming independent
short film makers. Aimed at promoting filmmaking in India, this campaign
was a great platform for the aspiring filmmakers.
Nikon launched the campaign with a teaser on 31st Aug ’15 which was officially rolled out on 4th Sep ‘15. Creating a lot of buzz in the digital space and garnering an overwhelming
response, the contest was open till 20th Oct ‘15. Given the
rise in the video content consumption and multiple functionality in the
cameras, which makes filmmaking an easier task, the campaign has been a
huge success.
Mr. Kazuo Ninomiya, Managing Director, Nikon India Pvt. Ltd. commented,
‘Shorts on Nikon' is the
first of its kind initiative taken by Nikon to promote short filmmaking
in India. We aim at connecting on a more direct level with our audience
by providing them a platform to explore
their potential around filmmaking. With this initiative, we are
reaching to a new set of enthusiasts and helping them unleash all the
functionality of the best in class technology that our cameras are
equipped with.”

but offer them a platform to do more, explore more and learn more while
being rewarded. The winning entry – ‘Smudge’ and first runner up entry –
‘Roshni’, both are work of excellence and filmmakers creativity are
showcased in well perceived manner. ‘Smudge’
revolves around thriller with a twist based taking real life incidents
as cue and on the other hand ‘Roshni’ is an emotional and heart-warming
story of a mother and son relationship. We would like to congratulate
both Mr. Abhilash (Smudge) and Mr. Harkeerat
(Roshni) on winning the contest and we are hopeful, to see more work
coming from them”.
The Shorts On Nikon contest is about
exploring the short film maker community in India. The campaign received
an impressive response with an outreach to 8,00,000+ audience in the
digital space who had interest
in short film making. It received 150+ submissions which were shot
using a Nikon camera. 17 best films were shortlisted with the help of
the technical officers at Nikon and were showcased on the Nikon India
Facebook page. Five winners were announced:

First winner Mr. Abhilash (Smudge) was gratified with a Nikon D750 Kit
·
Second winner Mr. Harkeerat (Roshni) with a Nikon D5500 Kit
Other three winners were facilitated with consolation prizes.
