Panasonic launches Mini version of popular Eluga S smartphone

Panasonic today announced launch of its mini version of Eluga S smartphone with Blink Play feature that clicks selfies and groupies with a blink of your eye. The Mini version comes with a 4.7 inch screen while its predecessor Eluga S sported 5 inch  HD IPS display. Mini version is also powered by same 1.4 GHz Octa Core processor. The phone is priced competitively at Rs 8,990/- to attract the customers in sub 5000 to 10000 category.

The phones USP is in its unique Blink Play feature which allows user to gesture with a blink of eye and once recognized by the front 5 MP shooter picture is clicked in 3 seconds. Eluga S mini sports 4.7 inch HD IPS display, 1.4 GHz Octa Core processor supported by 1 GB RAM on its back, and 8 GB internal memory which can be further expanded upto 32 GB via micro SD Card. The stylish thin bezel on front coupled with Frost effect arc shaped rear keeps the Eluga S Mini slip and compact. The new smartphone from company comes with a 8 MP Full HD capable auto focus camera. The device is powered by a 1980 mAh battery.

Expressing his pleasure on the launch, Mr. Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India said “With the launch of the new smartphone, we are here to offer a new dimension to the Eluga S category; wherein the model has been targeted at the younger generation - the always-on-the-go college youth. Sharing his thoughts on ELUGA S Mini, Mr. Pankaj Rana, Business Head – Mobility Division, Panasonic India said “Indian customers desire multiple options for whatever they start liking, we worked on the consumer demand and came up with a Mini version of ELUGA S, however upgraded with an innovative Frost-effect design”.

Eluga S Mini is priced bit lower than its predecessor but still we feel it is not the best pricing strategy for Indian Market where already 5K to 10K segment is crowded by Chinese and other home grown brands. The Indian smartphone buyer has always given weight to higher end specifications than any other aspect in choosing the right smartphone. Brands like YU are doing a great job in bringing best of hardware, software combination at lowest price. Having said that more can be concluded once we have the review device in our hands till then stay tuned.
