Panasonic launches Toughpads and Toughbook for manufacturing and defence sector, all priced over 1 Lakh

For a change today's launch from Japanese company Panasonic was not about price competitive device nor its target was the masses of vast Indian market. Today Panasonic launched rather unconventional two tough tablets dubbed as Toughpads and one Tough Laptop alias Toughbook purposely built for people working in field of defence, public safety, logistics, utilities, manufacturing, retail and field services. With technology advancing day by day these sectors indeed needs to be upgraded with latest tech and devices which are tough enough to sustain few falls and rough usage.

For Toughpad company announced fully rugged, 5 inch handheld tablet Toughpad FZ-E1 and FZ-X1 powered by Windows 8.1 handheld and Android 4.2.2 OS respectively. FZ-E1 is priced for Rs 119,000 and FZ-X1 is priced at Rs 109,000. On the other hand semi rugged Toughbook C-54 designed for automotive diagnostic  and field work mainly for indoor maintenance is priced at Rs 139,000 and is claimed to be thinnest and lightest semi rugged PC in its category.

The Toughpad FZ-E1 and FZ-X1 represent a significant expansion of Panasonic’s Toughpad line, the company’s most comprehensive portfolio of enterprise-focused tablets. Toughpads are resistant to a 10 feet drop on concrete with ML-STD-810G specifications, also it is water and dust resistant with IP65 and IP68 resistant. These devices are also first in their category to provide voice connectivity. Fuelled by 6200 mAh massive battery which lasts up to 14 hours of continuous use.

These tablets are also built for easy integration into existing IT infrastructures and for smooth deployments and ongoing support, thus providing organizations with longer life cycles, translating to lower total costs of ownership.

With the new devices complementing our existing business, we will be able to significantly improve our presence in the segment, driven by factors such as improving mobility infrastructure and ecosystem, combined with business and workforce demand.”

Speaking on the launch, Mr. Toru Hasegawa, Divisional Managing Director, Solutions Division, Panasonic India, said, “With the industry moving towards unification of enterprise and carrier networks, we are offering all-inclusive solutions to different market segments. The new products build on the legacy of nearly two decades of rugged devices from Panasonic to accomplish the mission of professionals in the most demanding work environments. With this launch, we are looking at increasing our presence in the Rugged IT devices segment from an existing 60% to almost 65%.”
