Video on demand service HOOQ launched in India, membership costs just Rs199 per month

HOOQ , Asia's on line video service today announced launch of its services in India, one of the largest markets in the world. The membership will give subscribers access to unlimited streaming of Hollywood, Bollywood, and regional movies, tv series with an offline viewing option for a membership of just Rs 199/- month. 

HOOQ is a start up joint venture between Singtel, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros., which brings to India the biggest Hollywood catalogue where customers can access a huge collection of over 5000 movies, television series and TV shows. These includes titles from Sony, Warner Bros., Disney, Dreamworks, and Miramax such as Harry Potter, Spider Man, Avengers, Iron Man, and TV series such as Nikita, The Shield, Friends, Lost and Grey's Anatomy.

Not only Hollywood, HOOQ has partnered with some of the best production houses of Bollywood and Regional producers which includes YRF, UTV Disney, Rajshri, Reliance, Shemaroo, Sri Balaji, AP International, Whacked out Media and over 50 other studios which collectively offers an extensive range of over 10,000 movies and tv favourites. Customers will have access to latest high grossing movies such as Chennai Express, Vishwaroopam, Singham as well as yesteryear's classic hits such as Ek Duje ke liye and Andaz Apna Apna.

HOOQ services will be available from June onwards, CEO Peter Bithos responding to a question said that they are working towards building partnerships in India on various fronts like device manufacturers, production houses, ISPs, Cable Operators etc to make the service penetrate into the market and get best results for its subscribers. 

We got the beta subscription of the service for one month , the services is indeed rich in its contents. One subscription allows you to connect from upto 5 different devices, more interesting is you can stream simultaneously from one account to two different devices that means you and your room mate can share this service for just Rs 99.50/- per month besides sharing your room :). 

The application gives user freedom to choose the quality of stream or download (high, medium or low) decision can be taken based upon bandwidth (application indicates bandwidth quality with red, yellow or green signal), priority of data to be used and urgency to download. 

So if you don't have a decent internet subscription for full time, you can download movies/tv episodes of your choice once you connect to internet and watch them later on by activating offline mode.
