ASUS confirms rollout of Lollipop update for Zenfone 4, 5 and 6

ASUS has announced Lollipop update for Zenfone Series smartphones running on Android 4.4 Kitkat i.e. Zenfone4, Zenfone5 and Zenfone6 in April but due to some technical reasons the update was delayed and the users are waiting for it eagerly since then. If you are a user of one of the above mentioned smartphones then we have a news for you. ASUS today confirmed that the latest  Android update is in final testing stage and will be rolled out sooner than expected, yes you heard it right you will get Lollipop update sometime very soon.

The Official Press release read "ASUS today announced that the Lollipop update for the ASUS Zenfone Series First Generation (4, 5 and 6 inch) is expected sooner than the anticipations. It is in the final testing stage and ASUS will announce the schedule of the arrival soon"

Earlier there were speculations that the update might get delayed for as long as 3-4 months but with the latest information we are expecting the update to be rolled out OTA sometime in next month.

As of now the only the latest entry into the Zenfone series the Zenfone2 (the first phone to have 4 GB RAM) runs on Android 5.0 and other phones runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat. I personally use Zenfone2 and have used Zenfone5 in the past. We expect latest update will address heating issue and battery draining issue in Zenfone5 to some extent. If the camera app is also upgraded to what we have for Zenfone2 that would be great.

Google did released source code of Android Lollipop for customization at the end of last year, however several companies using their custom UI had to work a lot on to make a synergy between there custom design and Lollipop material design. While Indian brands like Micromax has already started rolling Lollipop for their devices, ASUS  is left behind a lot other smartphone companies who have rolled out the update with their customization on top of that, but the fact that ASUS is actually taking care of budget devices in this update is commendable. We hope the update rollout soon.
