Micromax the domestic smartphone manufacturer has forayed into PC market with its first product launched in the category in form of Canvas LapTab. As the smartphone market is already too crowded and expected to become even more in coming days, Micromax has well learnt it and plans to expand in the PC category.
As the name suggests Canvas LapTab is a 2in 1 hybrid laptop which can be used as a tablet as well as Laptop when connected to its Keyboard dock. Device sports a 10.1 WXGA IPS Touch enabled display and is powered by Intel Atom Processor (1.83 GHz Quad Core), it is supported by 2 GB DDR3L RAM and 32 GB flash memory, for capturing photos device features 2 MP rear and 2 MP front camera, Canvas LabTab is claimed to provide 10 hrs of battery backup and comes preloaded with Windows 8.1 which will be upgraded for free on Windows 10, and office 365 ( a combo which costs approx 11000 INR otherwise). Canvas LabTab ensures seamless connectivity as you can connect to Bluetooth, Wifi, Internet dongle, LAN (through OTG connector) and 3G Sim card.
The
Laptab pre-bundled with genuine MS offerings viz. Windows 8.1 and Office 365,
which costs over Rs. 11,000; which can be a value for money package. Also the
device accelerates smart search, optimized battery usage, customization,
improved application performance, refreshed notification system and will have a
confirmed free upgrade to Windows 10 when available. With 7,700 mAh battery
maximizing portability and 10.1-inch WXGA IPS touch-enabled display, users can
enjoy up to more than 10 hours of battery life with best in class viewing
experience.

This is the first time Micromax, Microsoft and Intel have come together for a product. We did some hands on on the device and device looks impressive , priced at 14999/- Micromax targets the first time laptop buyers along with people like me who needs laptop and connectivity on the go. However, the road is not easy here as well Micromax will have to compete with established players such as hp, Dell, ASUS, Acer etc.
