Micromax appoints Ashish Agrawal as Chief Technology officer

New Delhi, February 13, 2015: India’s leading smartphone player and consumer electronics brand, Micromax Informatics Ltd., today announced the appointment of Ashish Agrawal as its new Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Ashish will be leading the technology initiatives for Micromax to bring future technology disruptions into the market. Prior to joining Micromax, he served as the Chief technology Officer with Sirqul where he was instrumental in creating product definition, execution and adoption of Sirqul’s suite of mobile engagement products and services.

Agrawal is an international technology executive with 16 years of experience in Web Services, Mobile, e-Commerce, payments and large scale distributed systems. With this erudite background, he has spent 14 years in Amazon in software development, product development and technology leadership roles. While he has worked in a large evolved setup, he has also great experience in a startup context as well as he has played key roles on early stage businesses and technologies inside Amazon including Amazon Anywhere (mobile), AWS and payments. He got an opportunity to lead development of m-commerce applications for Amazon.com very early in his career.
At Micromax, Ashish will be responsible for defining the vision and the direction of software services, and driving new initiatives to provide a strong impetus to brand Micromax to pursue its aim to be one of the biggest companies to bring future technology disruptions into the market.

With an impeccable growth trajectory for successfully building core competencies of people, business transformation and operations, Ashish is seen as one of the biggest tech maestros in India. With an in-depth and ubiquitous technological knowledge, he has filed several patents in the areas of web services, personalization, search and payments with over 20 approved patents to his credits, with several more in progress. He holds a degree in engineering from IIT-Delhi and has done his masters in electrical engineering from Columbia University, New York.
