This season is perhaps the best for smartphone buyers devices are pouring from all sort of companies be it MNCs or Domestic manufacturer equipped with high specifications and features but priced very low, thanks to growing competition and race to dominate Indian smartphone market.
We have seen low end smartphones running on android from as low as INR 3000 from manufacturers like Maxx and Karbonn but the real competition lies in midrange segment (6K - 8K) where market is full of options such as Lava IRIS 406Q , Micromax Canvas Unite, Motorola Moto E, Xiaomi Redmi 1S , ASUS Zenfone 4.5 and many more. Moto E has early bird advantage which staged the platform for midrange devices at low cost and proved to be a successful bid for Motorola after grand success of Moto G. Asus Zenfone 4.5 and Redmi 1S are the new challengers to make it to masses of India.
Redmi 1S:
Redmi 1S is second launch from Xiaomi after huge success of Mi 3 through flash sale on Flipkart. Redmi 1S is the strongest competitor going by its high end specifications and dirt cheap price tag of Rs 5,999/- only.
Redmi 1S runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 400s 1.6 GHz quad core processor supported by 1 GB of RAM, it runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with custom MI UI. Redmi 1S comes with 8GB flash storage expandable upto 64 GB thru external SD card, 4.7 inches 1280x720 IPS display with 312 ppi protected with AGC DragonTrail glass. On camera front it is loaded with 8MP camera at back and 1. MP camera in front. More details are in table at the end.
As we said Redmi1S is the strongest competitor for this price range but its availability is a huge concern. Many customers have bought other devices after getting frustrated for not able to buy Redmi 1S in many flash sales.
"Its of no worth to launch a product for masses when its not available to the masses despite of huge popularity".
RedmiNote1SMoto E:
Moto E doesn't need any introduction it is the device whose demand crashed Flipkart riding high on success of Moto G, Motorola dropped its sibling with half price and minor drops to the specifications. Moto E's success was phenomenal and it was sold out within minutes of its first launch. Moto E enjoyed its success time as much as Mi3 or Redmi 1S when customers were queued up at Flipkart just to wait for the next slot of sales to begin.
Though Moto E comes with decent specifications but no front camera, no LED flash light and low memory are few of the cons of the device which cant be overlooked when other smartphones in same range offer better specifications.
ASUS Zenfone 4.5 (A450 CG):
ASUS Zenfone 4.5 is successor to ASUS Zenfone 4 which is priced at Rs 5999/- with improved camera, lates OS, slightly larger screen than its predecessor and price tag of Rs 6999/ .
ASUS Zenfone 4.5 runs on Dual Core Intel Atom processor with hyper threading technology supported by 1 GB of RAM. It comes with 4.5 capacitive touch screen protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. On camera front device sports an 8 MP camera with pixel master technology and 0.3 MP camera is present on the front. On software front it runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat and ZenUI on top of it. Device has 8 GB in built memory and external memory can be expanded upto 64 GB.
Looking at specifications, price, availability and features ASUS Zenfone 4.5 wins for me in this list.
