Micromax working with BlackBerry to provide BBM directly to its new Canvas Customers

Now CAN “BBM” on Micromax Canvas Range of Smart Phones

Blackberry has confirmed that its exclusive IM application BBM will be available for Android (4.0 +) and iOS6 and iOS7 from this weekend. BBM is proprietary chat application for BBM which is considered to be one of the major reasons for sale of blackberry mobiles. Blackberry is taking a bold step by providing  its crucial service for other platforms. I remember some of my friends didnt liked BB much but still went to purchase it as they wanted to connect with other friends using BBM. The original chat app which uses mobile data has tough competition with the apps of like WhatsApp, Line, Wechat, Viber, iMessages(for apple).

According to company BBM will be available on Google playstore and Apple's App store from this weekend. Micromax has announced availability of BBM on its Canvas series smartphones. The popular non SMS based service will be pre installed on new Canvas series smartphone from first week of October. Existing customers can download BBM from PlayStore once it is available.

Mr. Deepak Mehrotra, CEO, Micromax said, “We have built a strong mobile ecosystem for our users, which not only drives them to buy our products, but also builds a connection with the brand by massifying and democratizing technology in India. Bringing one of the most popular mobile messaging services with BBM on our smartphones is yet another effort to expand our bouquet of messaging services for our consumers to connect and communicate seamlessly with their loved ones.”

With BBM  on Canvas phones users will be able to connect with their friends, share media, create group chat of upto 30 friends and broadcast message to all their contacts. Apart from that Users can update their profile and the same will be shown in updates notification of their friends.

BBM provides users with a unique pin which enables Users to connect with unknown persons for casual reasons without sharing their email id or contact number. This helps in protecting ones privacy and social security. However its not cleared whether screen sharing service will be available for Android and iOS users or not.

“BBM offers customers a highly engaging mobile messaging experience, with the assurance that your message has been delivered and read, and privacy controls that let you easily connect with people without forcing you to give out your phone number or email address. We are delighted to work with Micromax to bring BBM to their customers directly on Canvas smartphones across India,” said Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director for India at BlackBerry.
