Jumpbook: Desi 'Facebook' by two brothers from Patna

Mark Zuckerberg might not be aware of this news right now, but he may soon feel the presence of Indian version of Facebook named "Jumpbook".

Yes you read it right, the most popular social networking site is being challenged by this Desi website 'Jumpbook.in' developed by two brothers Nilay and Ankur Singh from Patna, Bihar.

Operating from a single room Nilay and Ankur claims that they are already catering to over 22000 users within four months of launch of their website. Singh brothers claims that their website offers lot more than Facebook. They call it a five in one package as it offers Social Networking-Quizzes-Classifieds-Forum-Blog Platform under single website.

This website can be seen as organized mix of facebook (Sharing, posting, comments etc), Orkut (blogging and forum), Quikr(classifieds). UI is somewhat similar to FB and notifications bar seems to be inspired from Linkedin.

Homepage of website gives option to sign in or sign up and states the same message as Facebook - "Its free and always will  be".

It is interesting to know that none of the two brothers are graduates from IITs and IIMs, infact Nilay had to quit his engineering so that his brother Ankur can continue his studies due to financial difficulties.
Singh brothers are looking for investors who can support them to upgrade their servers to meet the scaling requirements for the website.

After coming to know about Jumpbook we gave it a try, at the time of writing this post website was running bit slow. We hope that we will see improvement in performance as the time passes. We wish all the best to the brothers and Jumpbook.

Please let us know what do you think about future of Jumpbook by commenting on the post.
