Lava has officially launched its budget Quadcore smartphone with impressive specifications earlier this week. Iris 406Q is available for preorder on Flipkart  for Rs 6999/- only with expected release date in 3rd week of April.

Since the launch of Micromax Canvas HD, smartphone market is flooded with quad core smartphones and there are smartphones(Micromax A94, A93 for example) present sporting quad core processor (mostly Mediatek) and priced under 10K but they lack in other areas such as RAM, internal memory, Older version of Android with no word on update from manufacturer.
Iris 406Q stands apart from this crowd at least for now, it runs on Android Jellybean 4.3 out of box and is guaranteed to get updated to latest android version i.e. Android 4.4 Kitkat thru over the air update.

Lava Iris 406Q is powered with 1.2 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 chipset which is coupled with Adreno 302 @400MHz GPU supported by 1 GB RAM. It supports 3G dual sim (GSM +GSM) support with dual standby. On camera front Iris Pro comes with a 5 MP rear camera with LED flash packed with features such as noise reduction , fixed focus, 4x zoom and HDR mode and zero shutter lag, On front we have 0.3 MP camera for video chat and selfies :).

Lava Iris 406Q - Black

Iris 406Q sports 4 inch WVGA display with resolution of 480x800 pixels, 16.7M colors. As per company's claim it has used IML (in-mould labelling) technology for the back cover which makes it scratch resistant. The phone is available in two color variants viz. white and black.

Iris 406Q comes with 4 GB internal storage which can be extended upto 32 GB via external SD card and supports standard connectivity options such as Bluetooth (4LE) , WiFi, GPS, GPRS and 3G. The device is fueled by 1700 mAH strong battery which we feel it would have been great if Lava had provided some more life to it keeping Quadcore processor needs in mind. On Sensors front Iris 406Q sports the usual suspects which are proximity sensor, Accelerometer, G-Senson and Ambient light sensor.

No doubt it is one of the best phones available at this price in market. For customers who are low on budget and looking to buy a new phone Lava Iris 406Q is a good option. It is evident from the fact that the dual core predecessor to this device i.e. Lava Iris 405 is still available for Rs6899/- on Flipkart at the time of writing this article.
