How many of us were waiting for this good news. While Android is
already dominating mobile market which is also based on Linux kernel, Canonical
says their OS can run on any phone which runs Android's current version.
Most powerful and loved Linux based operating system
"Ubuntu" is soon coming to power your smartphones. Unlike other
mobile operating systems Canonical has come up with a powerful operating system
which can work on both Mobiles as well as PC when connected to keyboard and
monitor.
Have a look what's going on:
“We are confident that
Ubuntu will ship on phones from large manufacturers in 2013,” says Canonical
founder Mark Shuttleworth.
The new version of Ubuntu has been designed
to work on last and current generation Android handsets which share the
Linux kernel. There are already thousands of apps available on ubuntu
store.
Developer's will be urged to adapt their apps interfaces to support
mobile interface while preserving the core functionality.
A version of the code will shortly be made available to
developers to start adapting their apps.
The firm then plans to
release a file for Galaxy Nexus phones by February, and later for other
handsets and ultimately tablet computers as well.
Mr. Mark notes that thanks to Ubuntu for Android — which was
released last year — users will be able to try the interface on their Android
phones without committing to it. But Ubuntu won’t run Android applications,
because although Android is based on Linux it has its own application
environment.
Canonical has created a buzz in tech world let's see how
successful they will be. All the best Ubuntu.
